Confederate veteran commits death at Roanoke
Geo L Cunningham a Confederate veteran and Norfolk & Western employee killed himself at Mountain Park Roanoke on Sunday afternoon in view of many. He stabbed himself after a confrontation with a street car conductor and was seen bleeding from the neck by Mary Gray. Despite attempts to help he resisted, then died before a doctor arrived. Survived by widow and four sons. A Lynchburg News item notes Cunningham’s death occurred rather than face exposure for his conduct. Also a quip about a cooking school graduate and marriage.
