Miss Kate Bayard eldest daughter of Hon Thomas Bayard Secretary of State died suddenly at 8 o clock Saturday afternoon in Washington. News reached the White House and Miss Cleveland halted her reception as Mrs Bayard assisted. The immediate cause was heart disease. long affliction noted. She attended her father’s reception the previous evening and was unusually excited.
