St Johns should unite its administration for its own sake. After months of promising outlook and investment interest the city election produced top sy turvy factions. Residents must force factions to reconcile and run government in a businesslike fashion to prevent lasting damage to property owners and the town’s prospects.
Citizens debated whether minutes should be read as Mr Brice urged disclosure while Mayor Kit pressed for action. Attorney Greene proposed delaying to avoid further conflict, suggesting a short adjournment. The motion to adjourn to Thursday evening passed as tension lingered near a settlement.

Meanwhile Humphrey Jones 74 was fatally hurt near Oregon City after a crossing incident with a Southern Pacific train. his daughter and her friend survived with injuries as Mrs Evans tended him in Portland Hospital.
Bessie, infant daughter of Mr and Mrs F J Carter, died after a brief illness on Thursday. The funeral was held Friday September 1 with interment at Columbia Cemetery.
