Fire two Monday night blazes alarm residents
Two fires frightened residents Monday night. The first started in a Central hovel room around 11 o clock but was quickly extinguished with the chemical. The second fire at Cedar Park, Albert Olen’s residence, was fatal, believed caused by an overturned lamp and spreading after the owner slept. Neighbors aided, Olen lost all but a suit of clothes. Fire department acted promptly on both calls.

Injured Plumber Taken After Fall From Enamored Tub
John J. McCann a East St Johns plumber and member of Campbell McCann was badly hurt at 2 PM while loading an enamel tub into a house at East Nineteenth and Drance. The tub toppled him on cement steps injuring his back of head, causing a deep skull wound. Red Cross ambulance took him to Vince Hospital where he remains in guarded condition. Friends hope for a speedy recovery.

Tunnel Work Under Way For Willamette Peninsula Route
