City Council Meeting Notes with Street and Utility Actions
All members attended the regular city council session led by Mayor Vincent. Specifications for electric wiring at the ferry landing were referred to the water and light committee. The engineer was instructed to remove dirt blocking Willamette boulevard and to divert overflow water from the water plant into the sewer. Richmond street improvements between Edison and the river were accepted at 40.75. A grade change on Macrum avenue was approved. Ordinances for Stan ford street and St Johns avenue sidewalk and grade works were passed. Temporary sidewalk linking Willamette and Rich streets was ordered. Geo W Ether’s appointment as policeman for St Johns district was not confirmed. The council plans to seek S C Cook and J Tanch to address remonstrances over fines and the wood cutting campaign.

The piano recital by Georgia Rich Lydick’s pupils with Miss Hortense In ga and Elmer Sneed drew many parents and friends last Friday evening. Each number impressed with polish and charm, earning hearty applause. Miss Ingalls delivered pleasing vocal pieces and Mr. Sneed’s violin selections proved popular. Mrs. Lydick received an ovation for her platform appearance, as the program featured works by numerous students and composers such as Madeline Munson, Lucy Hudnut, Fay Smithmith, Elmer Weed, and Mabel Smock among others.

River and Harbor Bill funds dredging and jetties work
The River and Harbor Bill authorizes immediate funding for Columbia River dredging and jetty construction. One million dollars is awarded for the Columbia mouth work, two hundred thousand for below Portland, and five hundred twenty five thousand for the entile Canal completion.
