St Johns Club Enjoys Evening at Log Cabin Bakery

St Johns Community Club members and friends rode from Peninsula Bank to Log Cabin Bakery on Ivy street for a guided tour of the plant and a meal. President Monahan and A E Jones spoke, Ritman recalled early days, Wright described the 35000 loaves daily output, and guests thanked the staff for hospitality. A separate note reports an Ohio girl surviving a 250 foot car plunge.

Oregon Grape Club Holds All Day Session at Marchand Home

The Oregon Grape Club met last Thursday October 13 at Mrs Marchand 11107 South Ivanhoe for an all day session cutting and piecing blocks. A noon dinner was served and several members sang songs before minutes were read and a committee formed to gather material for two quiet projects for the next meeting November 9 at Ida Forachweller's 1709 Willamette Boulevard.

Municipal Elevator at Terminal No 4 Ready for Wheat Exports

Workers watch as the municipal elevator at Terminal No 4 fills to capacity with 20 000 tons of wheat from Northwest ranches and awaits ships. The Abercos, a Pacific Steamship Co vessel, will load 8 000 tons for Europe marking the first bulk wheat cargo of the year from Portland. The Gray Rosenbaum Grain Co uses the facility to handle shipments and more vessels will follow.

Portland mayor signs ordinance for 1925 Exposition election

Mayor Baker signs the ordinance calling a special city election and a charter amendment to fund the 1925 exposition. The measure authorizes a special tax levy raising 670000 for 1922 to 1924 as part of the expo effort. Exposition executives attended the meeting to discuss the campaign.
