A visitor of note Joseph G Stephens American consul at Plymouth England and his brother D G Stephens of Portland were in town Wednesday. The consul, while his vacationing, pondered Saint Johns becoming a large city by eventual union with Portland. He thought the combined area could rival New York in size. The consul is visiting his brother in Portland during his trip.
Saint Johns berries are described as never better and as early as Hood River strawberries. The Saint Johns grove yields large, juicy berries, and the writer predicts local strawberries will soon be as highly regarded as those in other parts of the state.
