St Johns, a fair little city on a peninsula between the Willamette and Columbia rivers, features three lumber mills and a woolen mill. It has city water with large tanks, two school buildings, two hardware stores, two property stores, a harness shop, and a free library. The Northern Pacific railroad runs through East St Johns from Portland to Spokane, and an electric line connects to Portland. The town claims a fine city hall for its size and a 15 minute streetcar service.
