After a harmonica saved Wannebo's life last Thursday night the St Jobes Pharmacy secured the mouth organ and ballet and placed them in the show window with a clipping from the evening papers about the affray. The center window showcased various harmonicas, making the promotion obvious.
William H. Wannebo of St Johns escaped a deadly encounter with two rowdies after bullets pierced his cheek and his harmonica in his left pocket thwarted a heart shot. The assailants fled. one was captured and charged with assault with intent to kill, later reduced to simple assault. Wannebo keeps the harmonica and the flattened bullet as keepsakes. police seek the second assailant.

A pleasant open air reception last Sunday at Mr. and Mrs. W. N. Swengel’s lawn celebrated George W. Swengel of Larimore North Dakota and family. Guests enjoyed strawberries with ice cream and cake amid flowers, marking five years of marriage for the Swengels. The parents Mrs S S Swengel and Mrs J D Fisher of Bandon Oregon attended, then departed by steamer for San Francisco before a South tour and return to Larimore.

Gertrude Estella Jackson died at her home in St Johns Oregon on June 11 after months of illness. Born in Whitehall New York in 1850 she lived in Lamartine Wisconsin Mitchell South Dakota and finally Oregon. Survived by husband J D Jackson three daughters two sisters and two brothers all of St Johns and Portland. Funeral held at home with Rev F N Sandifer and hymns. interment Riverview Cemetery.
This week the reading room starts a charge collect for late fiction with ten books from popular titles loaned for one week at five cents each. Proceeds go to expanding the collection. Commencement exercises of June class of tort will be Thursday June 22 at 8 p.m. Munic will be furnished by the high school glee clubs and graduates will present works they prepared. min Young D D of Portland will deliver the commencement address. The high school annual is available at St Johns Pharmacy or from editorial board members. The book covers select work, pictures, literature and events of the year.
