Ray Steichen aged 16 years drowned while unloading blocks at Government moorings near the river. Joseph McKee dived to rescue after Steichen fell from a skiff amid heavy swells caused by the Breakwater. McKee, exhausted, was hauled aboard as divers recovered the body an hour later. Funeral at St Mary’s Cathedral Portland. He leaves four brothers and four sisters.

From Trenton Michigan on July 20 1910 Adam Kaemlein writes to Mr Markle describing a long travel itinerary across Detroit Cleveland Seattle Victoria Vancouver Winnipeg St Paul Milwaukee Chicago and Trenton. He notes hot weather busy social events old friends weddings and plans to return by early September while joking about remaining single.
Oregon doors demand spurs Nicolai Manufacturing to build a $50 000 Kenton plant on the Peninsula near O R N tracks. Initial output about 1000 doors daily, with motor power and potential doubling. 40 workers to start, additional plants eyed by two eastern concerns, one planning a 1000-employee facility near St Johns. Also noted, a fine frame Colonial home for Joseph Koerver of St Johns woolen mills, costing about 5500, designed by Lewis I Thompson Abstract.

All sections of the state urged to be represented with fruits grains vegetables and grasses. The car will travel from fall through spring with a lecturer, visiting state fairs and the Land Show in Chicago.

Mrs Clara Snyder mother of a three week old died by inhaling gas in her kitchen at 645 Williams avenue. Her husband found her and the infant breathing after awakening. the baby survived after inhaling some gas. A note left by the woman expressed insanity and goodbye. The coroner and physician attended. the body was moved to the morgue.
The largely needy case of fifteen year old Mable Ruy ing, crippled since childhood, draws St Johns residents to support her operation and care. Dr W B Hollen of Portland offers to perform the procedure gratis, while funds for clothing and hospital services are raised at Peninsula Bank and the Review office to aid this unfortunate orphan.
Enquiries seek a daily cleaning task and door gate compliance. The notice instructs leaving mail and address at the office for verification or pickup.

Mrs Burr widow of Rev 8 S Burr and mother of Mrs Lola Patriquin died recently at Allegheny Street residence. Born February 25 1825 in Licking County Ohio she moved to Marshall County as a child. Survived by son Charles Burr Idaho and daughters Mrs Jessie Crawford Oakland California and Mrs L Patriquin others mourn her. Funeral held at M B church with Rev F N Sandifer officiating at Riverview Cemetery.
