Man Killed by Rolling Log at Willamette Pulp & Paper Co
John Olson, 64, died Saturday morning when a log rolled onto him while loading logs onto cars near the dry docks at Willamette Pulp & Paper Co. The derrick raised the log but it slid back and crushed him. He expired en route to a Portland hospital. The body was taken to St. Johns Undertaking Parlors for funeral services Monday at 2 p.m. Interment followed in Columbia Cemetery. Olson, single, had lived in the city all his life. his family resides in Sweden. The company had employed him for six years and his fellow workers showed notable brotherly regard during the service led by Rev. J. A. Goode.

Fire damages Pronto towboat at Port of Portland yard
