Turpentine Plant Opens on West Side at Linnton
A new wood distillery on the West Side near Linnton showcases a modern turpentine plant producing tar turpentine tar oil pitch gas wood alcohol and calcium acetate. Vice-president and general manager W J Young conducts a tour detailing the four cord retorts twent four storage tanks five copper stills and dual eighty horsepower boilers. The plant plans first operations this month and features a nonpoisonous fruit and vegetable spray touted to kill scale aphids fungus and moss while boosting tree vigor.
