They will hire 26 men, install machinery immediately, and produce ranges with Portland as the base. Incorporators include H. St, Bleradorf, M. A. Shirley, N. A. Peary, B. M. Hitch cock and J. H. McKennie, with Shirley as manager. The Oregon Slonna Mineral Paint Co also buys East St Johns land for a 1000000 investment building a three story plant with 30 employees and $2500 monthly payroll.

The Swift Packing Co. plant roadway work is complete except testing of the pipes. The dredge resumes 24 hour operation with two crews. Stockyard construction to be rushed. Wakefield to supervise cement and concrete work. Eastern officers demand readiness for slaughtering by July 1. The new building will be Colonial style, 100 by 60 feet, one story, with potential for an extra floor later.

Council met in regular session with all members present. Petitions for land at Ne plea and Filmore streets were read and referred to the water and light committee for investigation. An improvement plan for Portland boulevard and a plank sidewalk on that ward were discussed. The engineer was instructed to draw plans for Mil dolphin street improvements to the city dock. An ordinance establishing a working plan for charter amendments passed. Provisions will be printed and mailed to voters within thirty days. An appropriation was advanced for a trip in token payment to the inspector. The Farmers' Union planned a meeting in Keb and O with intent to dock, while a resolution commending Hop for ferry work and wells for 84 dollars per ton was prepared. The season noted garden activity and early planting in the region.
