The installment continues a long letter from Dr J Vinton Scott once a noted St Johns dentist. He describes a wedding procession and a caravan of velvet camels delivering coal, a ride by Mrs Scott, the crowd of Chinese spectators, local barbers and crude gear, then visits the Temple of Heaven and its altars with historical notes on Ming Emperor Joe Loh and the Winter Solstice ceremonies. The piece moves to a birthday party at Capt R E McIntyre’s home with a large turnout and gifts, and closes with a community club meeting in St Johns planning for the 1025 World’s Fair and opposing reduced ferry hours, plus notices about a sale and Rogers advertising.
