Death of Pioneer Lady Isabella Windle in St Johns
Mrs Isabella Windle died at her home in St Johns at two o clock Thursday morning. Born January 25 1824 in Tennessee she moved with her family to Missouri and later to Oregon in 1852 settling first on the Columbia Slough farm before moving to St Johns sixteen years ago. She and her husband John Windle who died in St Johns two years ago left eight children all grown. Surviving relatives include Mrs P T Smith and several Windle children across Oregon and Washington. She had been an invalid for ten years and fell and broke her hip three years ago. Funeral services will be held at the family residence at 1 pm Saturday with interment to follow.
