The West Coast lumber company plans a large Linnton mill near the Associated Oil tanks. A. Deman of Portland prepared the plans for a double band mill with a planing mill, shingle and lath works. Capacity 150,000 feet daily, cost about 150,000, employing ~206 workers. Ground broken for new brick building on North Jersey street
Construction begins on a 25 by 60 foot brick structure by E C Hurlbert with foundation built to support two stories though only one will be erected this winter. Plans for the Davis Safe and Lock Co factory on the peninsula call for 432 by 2 feet and a two story office section. Kenton Building and Contracting Co prepared plans for the project. Excavation finished and concrete foundations laid for Bing ham Bros building as Kenton expects 1000 workers next spring as housing fills.

Stockyards Receipts Show Mixed Week Across Livestock
Stockyards reported 3019 cattle 366 calves 1483 sheep plus Brkt hogs and 63 horses for the week. Cattle arrivals rose after Thanksgiving amid waning demand and cautious sentiment. however most offerings cleared. Steers sold around 4.65 with cows slightly stronger. light calves sold well as demand outpaced supply. Fat lambs, mutton and wethers remained uneven while hogs gained strength with top quotes near 8.10 and most good hogs selling at that level.
