A call by President Wilson requires all men who were under 21 last June 5 and have since turned 21 to register on Saturday August 24. Local draft boards handle registration from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m with no excuses accepted. Failing to register can mean imprisonment up to one year and induction into service. If away, registrants should register by mail via the nearest draft board.
Norman Diebel 31 East Seventy sixth street North drowned in the Willamette River near Whitwood Court ferry slip while helping place logs for a boathouse. W H L Evans recovered the body using a rope and hook after an initial dive proved fruitless. Diebel, an employee of Northwest Steel, leaves a widow and relatives in Palouse Washington. Coroner notified.
In Multnomah County Oregon the estate of Meter Autren deceased is administered by Anna C Autzen as executrix appointed July 16 1918 by Judge Gi Tanwell. Creditors must present their claims verified by law to attorney George J Perkins 1117 Board of King Portland Oregon, with first publication July 19 1918.
