Finalists in the Merit Scholarship program will be eligible for awards funded by NMSC and about 175 sponsors including businesses, foundations, colleges and unions. Names of Merit Scholars will be released around April 23 1964. awards may total up to 6000 dollars for four years, with stipends averaging 850 dollars annually.
