Handling a 3NT Hold Up in Bridge Strategy
In a 3NT hand with a single stopper, the declarer should cut off the defenders communication by delaying playing the Ace until the third round. This preserves the diamond stopper and prevents a spade return from East, giving a chance to run nine tricks. If West holds the Ace of Spades, the line may fail, but the plan still offers play to establish diamonds and avoid immediate defeat.
