Orchard Farm bond vote fails for eighth time
Orchard Farm School District voters rejected a $1.4 million bond issue on Tuesday, failing to reach the two thirds requirement with only 18 yes votes to 486 no, amid about 1,328 ballots cast from roughly 3,200 registered voters. District spokesmen cited Portage des Sioux precinct as a persistent hurdle and said no ninth run is planned. The bond would have funded a gymnasium, industrial arts and music classrooms, and renovations to water and heating systems at Orchard Farm High School, which has enrollment over 600 but no on-site gym or music facilities.
