City Sign Law Deepens Its Legal Maze in Slowed City Council

The St Charles City Council wrestled with sign regulations amid claims that setback rules are overly restrictive and variances blocked. City Counselor Bechtold says Chapter 24 partially survives the 1953 zoning repeal, leaving interpretation and enforcement in flux. Interim measures would restore 25 years of practice while planning and a comprehensive ordinance proceed.

Union Electric rate increase hearings set in Missouri

Hearings on Union Electric's request for a 65.4 million rate hike will be held in St Louis city and St Charles with testimony from customers. A general hearing runs October 24 to November 10 in Jefferson City. The proposal would raise the average bill about 3.74 dollars monthly for a 700 kilowatt hour usage, and the commission has suspended rates to February 2 1978.

Boonslick Pool Opening Sets Ribbon Cutting Event

The Boonslick Park pool opens at 1 30 p m Saturday May 28 with a ribbon cutting by Mayor Frank Brockgreitens. Dr Paul Rother chairs the Park and Recreation Board as city officials and state agency partners attend a tour of the facility. Steve Ehlmann will manage the pool with admission 135 for adults and 65 cents for under 14. ten swim passes cost 9 for adults and 4 50 for children. swimming lessons will be offered.
