A Union Electric and McDonnell Douglas collaboration tests wind power generation with two gauges atop Taum Sauk Mountain near Lesterville. The year-long study, pictured in the issue journal, details the gnemonometer device and its role in the experiment.
Union Electric updates its Fairlane tower with a wind gauge device and plan to test wind energy. McDonnell Douglas engineers join the project to explore generating electricity from wind atop the 717 foot tower. Two similar gauges will be installed at other tall sites nearby.
A long access road project to St Charles downtown riverfront park faces delay in the Missouri Legislature. Senate Bill 164 would grant an easement for the road through First State Capitol Riverfront Park, delaying construction and raising costs to between 150,000 and 500,000 dollars. Quackenbush notes inflation and duplicated work, while House leaders push to pass the bill.
Dean Fey has resigned as superintendent of the Fort Zumwalt School District and will become dean of athletics. L. Riley submitted a resignation letter to the Fort Zumwalt Board in a closed session Wednesday night and asked to serve as assistant superintendent for the remaining three years of his contract.
O Dean Riley congratulates the 1974 graduating class at outdoor ceremonies. Riley, who last week announced stepping down as superintendent, will become Dean of Students and Affilitette Director of the district.
