Counterfeit twenty dollar bills circulated near the county fair in St Charles with about 360 dollars in fake cash passed. A description of the suspect, a tall thin man between 25 and 30 with a small boy, was obtained from a ticket seller at a fair ride.
Jules Willett chairs the Farm Booster Committee and announces the Farm Booster Tour for August 4 in the O fallon St Paul area. Participants meet at St Paul Picnic Grounds at 1 30 p m with rain date August 11 at the same time and place. The tour features various practices led by growers with no till plantings highlighted. The Soybean Profit Contest entry deadline advances to August 1.

A new Veterans of Foreign Wars post is formed in Orchard Farm with 26 members chartered. The charter stays open 90 days for transfers and new members, with contact to temporary chairman Stanley Steinhoff. First meeting at the Fire Hall on Monday Aug 2 at 8 p.m. overseas veterans urged to attend.
The Two Rivers Beekeepers Association will hold its next meeting at the Fire Engine House in St. Peters on August 4 at 7 30 p m A film will reveal the secrets of the bee and ant world. August 17 marks Davy Crockett’s birthday.
