Local Health Group Examines Elderly Nursing Home Care
The Rt. Charles Local Impact Committee of the Health Systems Agency met on July 19 in Wentzville with Hospital officials and temporary State Appraiser Larry Mathias. Attendees included Health Systems Agency staff members Mrs. Jane Crider and Mrs. Pegay Coppage and other Health-Een Executive Committee members along with counsellors physicians nurses and health workers. The general consensus was that the elderly and their families fear nursing homes because care is substandard and residents are left unattended for long periods. Spokesmen urged changes to end abuses and improve conditions.
