Absentee Voting Deadline For St Charles School Election
Voters in the St Charles School District must file written absentee ballot applications by 4 p.m. today and return ballots to the Board of Education by 4 p.m. Monday July 13. Ballots may be applied for in person by 4 p.m. Monday. The July 14 election includes a $5.63 tax levy for 1970 71 and an $810 000 bond issue for building, renovation and possible return to split sessions if not approved.

Koenig Farm Grows from Dairy to Truck Fruit Venture

The dairy and grain heritage required major changes as they invested long hours to establish the new fruit and vegetable enterprise. Koenig Orchard Through 1963 Milestones and Change
Norbert Koenig's farm near St. Louis grew fruits and vegetables for years serving five to six supermarkets daily by 1952. The Koenig Orchard at 9301 Natural Bridge faces displacement for an Inner Belt cloverleaf, with ground already surveyed. Started over 150 years ago by Bernard Koenig, the farm once spanned 75 acres and now includes 1100 apple trees 500 peach trees 12 acres of strawberries 20 acres of sweet corn 10000 tomato plants and diverse crops plus a 1963 greenhouse completion.
