City council nears final passage of a demolition bill to remove dangerous structures under a unified code. The Astro Lounge site cleared after a June fire prompts action, with inspectors proposing teeth in enforcement and appeals through BOCA codes and circuit court.
St Charles City will hire a new court clerk due to overload in the court. Police Judge Joseph Briscoe said the workload requires a dedicated clerk. Mrs Bette Claus now fills dual roles as clerk and police chief secretary. The new clerk will also serve as city clerk secretary. Tim Althoff of O Fallon was approved as a patrolman.
Fort Zumwalt School Board member Hillary Dickherber, a 24 year veteran, will not seek reelection amid opposition to a 1 175 million bond measure and a plan to hire a private transportation firm. The district faces four board seats up for election with a March 1 filing deadline.
St. Charles city councilman William Baggerman files as a Republican candidate for the Missouri state senate from the Second District. He emphasizes a low cost campaign with personal fundraising limits, plans to walk and rely on family, and notes prior service on city council and multiple federal and state committees.
