In 1960 a Polk County community gathers for the Head Mothers March on polio with Mrs. Califthe and Mrs. Clara slated to chair the event at Junior-Senior High. The program includes a health service opportunities discussion for high school graduates and a patio simon. A separate note recounts a Denver court case, odd driving anecdote, and stray items from St. Louis area venues.
Gerard Westmann of St Charles Radio and TV Barbeta Inamid chairs the St Charles County Heart Fund drive. Dr Graham Clark state chairman announced Westmann, a member of the Knights of Columbus Holy Name Society and St Peters Chamber of Commerce, notes last year 18 of 374 county deaths were from heart disease.
Henry P Rauch was elected president of the St Charles Chamber of Commerce at a regular board meeting at Hotel St Charles. He previously served as treasurer in 1959 and will succeed Roland T Pundmann. Other officers include Charles Boswell as first vice president Henry Elmendorf as second vice president F B Brockgreitens treasurer Arthur Schneider recording secretary and Ralph Dorgmeyer executive secretary. An annual members meeting with Man of the Year 1959 will be held January 25 at the Lutheran Hall with the Special Events Committee led by Kurt Schindier arranging a lively program expected to draw many attendees. George Price Shay US Ambassador to Nicaragua was born in Pittsburgh Kansas.
