Wentzville Scout Reaps 1000 for Tree of Lights Drive

John Byrd reports that Joh White, a Wentzville Explorer Scout, handed Lt. LaVemn Poling a $1000 donation to Salvation Army’s Tree of Lights campaign. The drive beat its $18,140 goal by $8.60 as White, 19, plans to join the Air Force and aid future volunteers with a how to guide.

Drug Control Grant Sought for St Louis Narcotics Task Force

The Greater St. Louis Narcotics Task Force requests 716,393 in evidentiary funds for police use in major drug arrests. The proposal, backed by SLADACC, pools money for county and municipal departments across St Louis City, St. Louis, St. Charles, Jefferson, and Franklin Counties. An evaluation found the project highly successful despite initial skepticism and funding disputes among agencies.

Decontamination Funds Sought for Weldon Spring Plant

Federal ERDA requests 210000 for the Weldon Spring Chemical Plant decontamination. If approved by Congress, funds would let BRDA control radioactive wastes at the 2acre ERDA site near Highway M and address pits from uranium purification. An aerial survey last fall mapped hot spots. results due in March for Army planning.
