After two weeks of repairs and safety upgrades the St Charles Youth In Nerd House opens. YIN Director Sue Schmeider and volunteers from SS Charles Juycees led work on windows footing and fire exits while Gk Charles and SL Clarkes County funded the project. Schneider seeks federal funds to expand the prevention program and runaway services as area families offered to host youths during maintenance.
The East-West Gateway Coordinating Council endorsed a $1,686,060 housing improvement plan funded by a federal Community Development Block Grant. The proposal, tied to St. Charles urban renewal areas, now advances to HUD for final approval.
