Electric Co Op Meeting Sparks Debate on Rates and Expansion
Community members pressed the Board of Directors over rate and expansion plans at a meeting titled Heat and Light. Cooperative manager Paul Bienvenue defended the current adder method tied to the Copper River system, noting it adjusts with load changes. He warned that urbanization and housing turnover complicate rate comparisons and that a board led rate study could not yet predict increases or decreases while pursuing cost responsibility among power user classes.
