St. Charles officials weigh next steps after a landslide defeat of the $2.25 million police facility bond. Voters opposed the measure 2 948 to 1 647, signaling concerns over tax increases and an over elaborate design.
Incumbent Dr C Ben Basye won by four votes over Mrs Nina Knight in the St Charles Board of Education race. Basye finished 1,697 to 1,693 with unofficial canvass pending. The big winner was incumbent Dr Roy Westerfeld with 2,835 votes, placing Basye second and Knight third.
