A seething critique argues that the meat industry has become a seven profit chain from farmer to consumer. It blames the packers and distributors for squeezing farmers and driving small farmers from cattle while cattle feeding and meat supply suffer. The piece urges farmers to resist the seven profit scheme and cure their own products.
Mrs. Austin Taylor reports a silver tip bear approached her ranch twenty miles south as her dog barked and fled. Michael Fossum and Wendell Cutting fired at the bear, which fled after a volley. The next day Wendell shot the bear as it moved near a tree, then it disappeared. Bears have been sighted nearby while Mrs. Taylor develops a new ranch in rough country.
