County commissioners appoint a farm superintendent to run the Glas gow county poor farm. The official will assign able bodied residents to work the farm with the aim of making the operation self supporting and building county roads. Taxpayers supported three classes of poor and expect better management of funds.
The forest service notes wood block paving once popular thirty years ago in many U S cities is regaining favor due to new block handling methods.
A local petition circulated by friends of Johnson seeks to reduce his twenty year sentence for stabbing Deputy Sheriff Jack Kimmel. The note warns the public that a drunk Johnson could kill, arguing twenty years is not excessive and criticizing efforts to free him.
As Congress convenes in December and currency legislation takes effect, expect bills to improve farmer conditions. Senator Gore of Oklahoma has spoken on the issue, recalling recent European trips to study farm loan systems and credit methods aimed at easing farmers’ access to loans.

State Master O F E Young of Great Falls announces the annual State Grange meeting to be held in Bozeman January 20 and 21 with the state college Grange. National Grange lecturer Hon N P Hull of Michigan is expected, and F S Cooley is preparing a program featuring men of national reputation. A great rural leaders gathering and a robust farmers week at Bozeman follows the meeting with emphasis on social and educational work.
Over the last week a consolidation between First National Bank and Bank of C. W. Nelsons Co is under way though not yet finished. The buyers listed include O St Heege C A Davidson Jr C F Ross Paul Edw Skjerseth and I Sutherland.
The Tammany political bosses who backed Governor Sulzer in his impeachment clash suffered a defeat in the latest election. Sulzer ran on the Progressive party ticket for state assembly and won the seat.
