Montana State Treasurer J W Walker received a 39 peter 39 963 .65 payment from Continental Oil for the quarter ending September 30 representing the sales tax of 1 cent a gallon on all gasoline distributed in Montana. Continental reports 3 996 366 gallons. Dealers pay tax when distributing by carload. Continental is among four big distributors in the state, along with Mutual Oil Texas Oil and Pure Oil. Several smaller firms also distribute fuel in Montana.
