County Commissioners Meet and Bid Actions in 1912 Montana

The Valley County board in Montana held regular sessions on June 3 to June 5 1912 approving minutes auditing General Fund bills and issuing censuses for Plentywood. They opened sealed bids for county work rejected all as below par and discussed a saloon license hearing for O A Steffler. A mine output note on Billings toothpaste distribution is included.

Three Year Homestead Law Adopted By Congress

The 1912 act amends sections 2291 2297 and related provisions to require three years residence before patent for homesteads. It sets cultivation mines and residency rules and allows extended or delayed start due to climate sickness or other causes with federal oversight. The measure was approved and signed June 6 1912 and directs notices to entrymen.
