Gerald J. Murphy of the American Legion reports that about one third of disabled veterans in hospitals across 32 states are Legion members. He says the Legion helps all ex-service men and aims to boost overall membership among those who left service without physical handicaps.
The American Legion monitors pro German meetings planned in Milwaukee Omaha Philadelphia Cincinnati Louisville Chicago Cleveland and New York. The event targets alleged German propaganda and the presence of negro colonial troops in France earlier, with organizers including Edmund von Mech and George Sylvester Vierick.
Lightning killed a valuable horse belonging to Eckhardt Pabst during last night’s storm. Hail damaged several fields with estimates of up to 50 percent loss in one or two cases and about 35 percent on average. White Water youth enjoyed a Dunbar ranch dance last Saturday night.
