First Flour Mill at Early Built in 1879 by John Reinhart

A historical scene shows Early as it was around 1880. The first and only flour mill was built in 1879 by John Reinhart at 10,000 dollars, powered by a Boyer River dam. It drew distant patrons before a two year life ended by fire. Reinhart, a Prussian pioneer with 3,000 acres, was a noted cattle raiser who predicted wheat prices would rise to a dollar per bushel if transport costs drop. He argued western farmers should withhold grain to force railroads to reduce shipping rates, urging Grange action.
