Cows on Show Tour Take Jersey Herd North
Sixteen head of pure bred Jersey cows from Henderson Jersey Farm begin their annual tour of the North and Midwest to compete at state fairs and live stock shows. A. H. Henderson says this year's herd is among the best for show in years. They depart for Des Moines and will finish after the State Fair in Shreveport. Lincoln Parish tax valuations drop 461,630 for 1931 due to drought and crop value declines, with 7,111.40 assessed versus 7,573,090 in 1930. Sheriff reports delinquent tax sales will be among the smallest in North Louisiana, with perhaps only a few properties sold.

Tick Free Cattle to Bring Prosperity in South Carolina
From South Carolina comes a testimonial on the benefits of tick eradication after the state claimed to be tick free in 1927. The Agricultural Year Book notes that eradication led to import of a thousand pure bred bulls for herd sires and boosted milk production with creameries and cheese plants expanding statewide. The report says cattle losses under quarantine regulation have ceased and urges other states to follow South Carolina’s example to avoid stock losses and develop dairy and beef industries.

Numbers of Exhibits Make Fairs Succeed
Fair time nears and exhibitors should plan to show their best products. The success of a fair hinges more on exhibitor count than exhibit variety, a farmer can display a few quality items even if not many. Encouragement for farm women and home goods is noted, urging creditable displays from most farms.
