Choudrant Hi-Lites School Assembly and Citizenship Talk

Homemaking Talk Promotes Landscape Planning at Meeting

Hico Headlines and Local School News

Monday night Hico boys lost a practice game to Tech. A woodpecker flew into the schoolhouse and was revived by Mrs. Skinner. The FLEA club elected officers: Denson president, Busby kid president, Tippett secretary, McGee treasurer, Foster reporter, O dom parliamentarian, Forenson and Bennett leaders. Patsy Foster’s name listed for state. Members discussed workbooks and physics checks. Girls and boys traveled to Dubach for physicals. Sympathy extended to Mrs. Hank Foster over her mother's passing. Social included cookies and punch.

Dubach Heine Demonstration Club Elects New Officers

The Dubach Heine Demonstration Club met October 3 at 2 pm at Mrs I L Buller's home with eleven members and one visitor. Mrs C S Fuller presided as minutes and treasurer reports were read and given by Mrs Dewey Campbell. Four committees were appointed to fix a booth and other business followed. New officers were elected for the coming year. Refreshments were served to members and guests including Mrs Wo AL Colvin and Mrs Archie Mesbrooks among others.

Beatty Reunion Held Sunday September 23

Relatives and friends of the Beatty family gathered at the Wesley Chapel Club House for the annual reunion on Sunday September 23. Walnut Creek Church Homecoming Day Observed

Walnut Creek Baptist Church held a homecoming on September 23 with singing and dinner. Speakers included Mr. Bob Holloway and Rev. Joe Querls, while gifts and musical support came from Mr. Mey ers of Ruston and Mr. Pat Hatt of Simshoro. Numerous attendees from Heflin Ruston Shreveport Monroe and Jonesboro joined the church in thanks and invitation to return.

Lincoln Man Promoted At Fort Riley In 1st Infantry Division

James Purdy of Calhoun Louisiana son of Mr and Mrs Grady L Purdy has been promoted to prep rank first class at Fort Riley Kansas where he serves in the 1st Infantry Division as a driver in Service Company of the division 26th Regiment He entered the Army in September 1955 and is a 1959 Calhoun High School graduate The Alabama Extension Service notes congealed salads can be unmolded ahead of serving and refrigerated on a cookie sheet for quick serving when guests arrive.
