Agriculture and the Nation in a Surplus Era
The Dean notes farming remains healthy with about 5 million farms and a 170 billion dollar investment since 1940. He outlines three farmer duties: raise efficiency and cut costs, sustain and boost productivity, and recognize agriculture as a political minority needing public education on true issues to ensure progressive farming benefits the nation. The field faces a paradox of expanding capacity despite regional surpluses testing future demand.
