Simsboro Village levies taxes for 1959 bonds and waterworks

Ordinance numbers levy two special taxes in Simsboro Louisiana for 1959. A 14 mill tax funds principal and interest on Public Improvement Bonds Series A and 3 with a sinking fund. a 5 mill tax supports waterworks. Taxes to be spread on the 1959 assessment roll, becoming permanent law, published in official journal. Adopted September 28, 1939. Mayor A. Alexander signed.

Simsboro approves 25 year natural gas franchise with Southwest

The Town of Simsboro Louisiana grants Southwest Natural Gas Company a 25 year franchise to supply natural and artificial gas, install and maintain distribution networks, and connect systems within the town. The ordinance requires the company to repair streets, pay 2 percent of gross receipts as compensation for street use, and maintains protections for public safety. The vote: 3 yeas, 0 nays, 0 absent. effective September 28, 1959.

Ambrose Family Hosts Weekend Bookends of Visits

Douglas and Mrs. Ambrose hosted a weekend gathering as relatives and in laws from Port Arthur Ruston Memphis and Delhi visited. J J Norris remains in Monroe for treatment J C Mount went to Shreveport for hospital exam on her health anniversary. Mrs Sanderson of Delhi celebrated her 79th birthday with family at the old home place.

The Riser Home Demonstration Club met at the Court House Demonstration kitchen on September 24 1953. Panoral services for Alva Riva Sivane Savage 51 died in a Shreveport hospital after an accident were held at Springhill Baptist Church. Burial was in Springhill Cemetery under Ede Mends Funeral Home. Skeleton Crew Holds Ruston Plant Amid Steel Shortage

In Ruston Lincoln Parish a local factory trimming staff to about 50 after seasonally employing over 400. Orders placed in April for potential steel shortages. A skeleton crew will run maintenance and tool and die work to resume full production once steel returns, with New Rochelle HQ seeking steel and job losses blamed on the broader steel strike. In New York, steel contract talks paused after a union refused another session. federal mediator Finnegan stated the government will not let the situation drift.
