Simsboro Man to Wed Monroe Woman Christmas Day

Charles Ray McCullen of Simsboro and Sandra Lynn Burford of Monroe plan a Christmas Day wedding at four PM in Monroe. Miss Burford adds Neville High past, Mrs Burford of Monroe, and Mr Cloyd McCullen’s son will be best man. Both are students at Northeast State College in Monroe.

PTC Week Events At School Auditorium Schedule

November 7 to 12 entries describe a school PTC meeting week in the auditorium with speakers Judith Yarbey Georgina Russell and Guy Leake and a choir. Open House follows in classrooms. Basketball games vs Summerfield results noted for junior and senior teams. Junior class fruit cake sale planned with Duncan Hines mix. Halloween events and student parties with listed attendees and chaperones detailed.

Choudrant to Take Part in Tournament

Downsville High School hosts its annual basketball tournament in Downs ville La with 12 teams across boys and girls divisions. Boys teams include Spearsville Choudrant Quitman Calhoun Linville Marie t Downsville and others. Girls teams feature Quilman Linville Marion Spearsville and Downsville with eight minute quarters for boys and seven minute halves for girls in early rounds.

Jim Frazier Named President of FFA At High School

Jim Frazier was elected president of the Ruston chapter of the Future Farmers of America succeeding Willis Boddie. A senior active in FFA, he earned the State Farmers Degree last summer in Shreveport and has served four years in the club including a previous term as vice president.

Mrs. Fred Jones Hosts Littera Club Meeting

The Littera Club of LFWC met at Mrs. Fred Jones residence for its November gathering. A landscaping program by Mrs. Dallas Lutes covered planting balance garden paths and seasonal changes. The club announced a December 3 charity sale and made donations to the Golsen Jubilee Fund State Scholarship Fund International Scholarship Fund Red Cross and Girl Scout Drive.

Building Permits Light Last Week in Louisiana

Ruston building inspector Pre L E Williamson will be honored at New Hopewell Baptist Church Bernice Louisiana on November 2 1969. The gathering will recognize permits issued last week totaling 18335 across Shreveport Ruston Arcadia Gibsland Grambling Jonesboro Natchitoches Dubach Lillie and surrounding areas.

Local repairs and upgrades total eighteen thousand dollars

A list records payments totaling $18,335 for various local works including Atking Builders $15,000 for repairs by L. C. Crow $75 for R. M. Dowling carport $1,000 for Will Belton re-roof $160 for Roberta Goldsmith repairs $100 and John M. Tatum $1,400 for an addition.

Television Set Production and Prices in 1950

Industry sources show the television industry produced 22,600 sets in 1950, with a contrasting 222 sets noted in the same year. Despite price cuts of 10 to 20 percent announced last month, a 21 inch set still sells for about 306 dollars.
