Dedication of New Buildings at Ruston Children’s Home

Dedication Tuesday morning marked the opening of three campus buildings Webb Hall Shelley Cottage and Sullivan Cottage plus the ministers’ home at Louisiana Methodist Children’s Home in Ruston. Bishop Paul K Martin and Olin E Oeschner spoke. Floyd James and James B Grambling presented the structures. open house and a noon dinner followed the dedicatory service.

Bastrop Boys Involved In Gun Incident And Missing Child

A Bastrop 14 year old was injured in an accidental gunshot wound to the stomach while reaching for a rifle in a family jeep. He is reported in serious condition. In a separate case a Bastrop boy eluded search teams, later found asleep in a bathroom closet after a two hour hunt following a supper invitation.

Democratic Reaction to GOP Victory in Louisiana

T C Readheimer a former Lincoln Parish school system teacher died at his Minden home at 1055 last night Funeral services will be held at the Ruston Church of Christ Tuesday at 2 pm with burial at Greenwood Cemetery under Darby Funeral Home charge He had been in ill health after an operation in a Minden hospital He is survived by his widow three sons Lt Harold Readheimer Alex Alexandria and Russell Readheimer and one daughter Mrs Edwin Liner all with military or area ties

Tech Tracksmen Seek Second Win Over Mississippi College

Tech Tracksmen aim for a second victory this season as they host Mississippi College Saturday at 1:30 p.m. The three mile course runs from Tech Stadium through Westwood Hills and back to the stadium for the finish. Tech defeated Mississippi College earlier in the season.

Helicopter Sparks Lincoln Parish Fire Near Choudrant

A low-lying helicopter clipped a power line along Highway 80 near Tremont Bottom, two miles east of Choudrant, starting a grass fire that burned an acre or more before control. The incident prompted State Ranger Frank Gibson and his crew to monitor aviation hazards, while a second fire was reported south of Ruston along the Rock Island Railroad. The Lincoln Parish Forestry unit, citing new equipment, plans increased prevention as local runners from Clinton, Mississippi and Tech’s Elliott appear in upcoming events.

State Engineering Group Honors Tech Senior With Award

Louisiana Tech senior Charles R. Connaughton recipient of a $100 scholarship from the Louisiana Engineering Society. Connaughton, from Shreveport, petroleum engineering major, will graduate in June 1957. Faculty committee cited scholastic standing, personality, attitude and activity in professional societies. Connaughton has a 2.64 GPA and is a member of the Student Senate, Honor Court, and Who's Who.

Mrs. W. E. Martin dies. rites set at Wesley Chapel

Mrs. W. E. Martin, a Lincoln Parish native, died after a long illness. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a m Wednesday at Wesley Chapel Church with Rev. W. L. Westbrook officiating. Burial will follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Darby Funeral Home is in charge. She leaves a husband, two sisters, and a brother, plus pallbearers including Ralph Martin, Tom Hinton, Pat Hinton, Joe Hinton, Henry Delony, and Larry Whitaker.
