A capacity audience heard Mendelssohn Elijah at First Baptist Church performed by Louisiana State University music department under H. W. Stopher. A 90-member traveling group including Choral club, Orchestra and Glee club toured Louisiana, traveling in three buses and performing across towns, with 66 voices in the chorus and a 22-member orchestra. The cast featured Bradford J. Morse as Elijah, Roxine Beard as the widow, Willis Ducraft as Ahab, Iva Perkins as soprano, Ernest Rolston and E. Green among others.

May 9 Crawford Burke, 14, Winnfield high school student, died in a local hospital from gunshot wounds suffered Thursday afternoon while hunting near his home. The butt of the weapon was used to drive out a rabbit when the gun discharged. The load struck the youth in the abdomen. He was the son of Mr and Mrs E S Burke of RFD No 2 Winnfield. Funeral planned for Saturday in Winnfield.
