Jackson Parish Students Take Top Science Honors

Jackson Parish students dominated senior and junior science divisions with top honors. Donald Lee Vola and Peggy Richardson of Chatham High led senior division exhibits, to be displayed at the national science fair in Indianapolis in May. Terry Hayden of Jerus Junior High won the junior division grand prize. Numerous first place certificates and medals were awarded across biology, physical sciences, mathematics, chemistry, earth sciences, electronics, and social sciences to students from Chatham, Weston, Ruston, Jonesboro Hodge, Haynesville, and Quilman. Special awards included Beta Beta Beta biology honors, Kappa Tau Pelta electrical engineering, physics club, and Air Force citation recognitions for meteorology and aerosapher dynamics.

Dr Bleich Speaks At Catholic Women Convention

Ruston Officials Urge Plan To Compete With Shreveport Growth

Mayor Clyde Fant told Ruston men that the city must plan to compete with Shreveport north of the state line. City leaders and planners from Shreveport and Bossier City discussed long range regional planning, urging a formal planning commission and coordinated growth for the metro area.

Pikes Fraternity Plaque for Red Cross Drive Total

The Pikes collected $357.40 door-to-door in Ruston for the Red Cross, part of a $7,039.39 college drive total. Other fraternities posted amounts: Lambda Chi Alpha $171.65, Tau Kappa $146.30, Lambda Tau $180.57, Rho Sigma $127.26, and Sigma Alpha $244.83 with recognition planned for top contributors.
