Teacher pay hike approved in state fiscal session

The Legislature approved salary increases for teachers and education staff funded by mineral revenue with staged implementation. Beginning teachers with bachelor degrees may earn 3250 to 3400, masters holders with 19 years experience up to 6000 or 36400 with full implementation. Other public workers including police, examiners, and judges also saw raises, with total cost estimated around 13 million for education and various state roles.

New Couple Honored at Northeast Freshmen Event

Four freshmen guests at Northeast attended a celebration hosted in a linen table set with white and pink gladioli. Mrs Taylos presided at the punch bowl as guests enjoyed refreshments and gifts were presented to the honored couple. Relatives and friends included Lois Nick, Lula Revel, Bob Stewart, and Patricia Stewart among others. Mrs Howard Revel remains ill under doctor care but slowly improves. Billie Chrisman and babies from Shreveport visited Charlie Chrisman and family over the weekend.
