Tom Rives 68, retired farmer, died at 6 15 p m Monday at Veterans Administration Hospital in Shreveport after a lengthy illness. Native of Hico, he was a member of Hico Baptist Church. Two Big Bucks Killed by Cars On Monroe Highway
Two large bucks were killed when they ran into two cars on the Monroe highway near the Ouachita parish line around 10:30 Tuesday night. Deputy Sheriff James Fallin, in a sheriff's car from Lincoln parish, struck a two point buck, while Mr. Peek of Pennsylvania hit an eight point head, killing that deer. No injuries were reported. Fallin delivered the deer to the Methodist Children’s Home as required by state law.

Radiology Training Spreads Across Louisiana Highways

Weekend Fires Struck Two Homes in Local Borough
The Fire Department answered three weekend calls ending the year with two blazes. At 3:13 a house on Chatham road occupied by Claude Edmonds and owned by George Anderson was a total loss. Later at 10:17 pm a fire at the R. C. Ric home on Monroe highway damaged a partition and some furnishings.

Ruston Youth Dies in Lake Charles Crash
An 18 year old Ruston youth, Thomas Hays, was killed when the car he rode in left the highway near Lake Charles and struck a tree. Benneth Rue, 20, of West Lake drove the vehicle. Rue survived. Hays was student at Louisiana Tech University. Funeral services were held in Ruston with burial in Liberty Will Cemetery. Survivors include his parents, a sister, and other relatives.
