Seed loans to be flexible in policy Hyde seed loans to be flexible in policy

About 125 Farm Council members met in Ruston to press for flexible government seed and production credit loans for Lincoln Parish farmers. A telegram to Secretary Hyde urged allowing one dollar per acre for miscellaneous expenses and avoiding restrictive terms that would thwart the purpose of the appropriation. Hyde’s office confirmed one dollar per acre may be used for production expenses other than feed, seed, and fertilizer. Officials expect loan applications to be ready within weeks and project loans at roughly 30 to 40 percent of the previous year’s parish total, with cotton acreage anticipated to drop about 20 percent.

The piece argues that farmers must continue to grow crops and supply goods while other sectors cut back, using housing and machinery examples to show how sustained production supports markets and living standards. It also discusses dairy setup needs, pasture, buildings, and the caution for new entrants, concluding with a brief odd note about a disciplinary case in Leeds England.

Dairying Dont Go Into It Grow Into It

Dr Tuil Butler, livestock expert, argues Southern farmers can profit from dairying with a favorable pasture season. Milk remains essential, prices hold better than many crops, and dairying could add about $500 yearly per farm, though overproduction risk exists and careful management is needed.
