Ruston Red Cross Meeting Scheduled for Friday Night

Lincoln Parish Red Cross chapter chairmen and fund campaign workers are urged to attend a Friday night 7:30 p.m. meeting at the American Legion Lounge. A showing of Red Cross Report for 1957 will precede campaign planning for the March Drive. About 50 post cards were mailed to campaign workers across the parish including Dubach, Choudrant, Simsboro, Vienna, Hico, and Riser.

Former Ruston Pastor Dies of Heart Attack

John J. Rasmussen, former pastor of Trinity Methodist Church in Ruston, died in Shreveport of a heart attack. He led Noel Memorial Methodist Church in Shreveport, retired in January after ill health, and served in Ruston from 1913 to 1948. Funeral was at Noel Memorial with burial in Forest Park Cemetery. A education fund for Rasmussen children was set up at Noel Memorial Church.

Forest Fire Reported In Lincoln Parish This Week

State forest ranger Frank Gibson reported one forest fire in Lincoln parish during the past week. About 29 acres burned northwest of Chourdant near a gas well flat as a cold dry wind blows through the area. Residents were urged to exercise extra caution.

Funeral Services Held Monday For Mrs Della Newsom

Funeral services for Mrs. Della Newsom, 72, of Choudrant, were held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Alabama Presbyterian Church with interment in the church cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Stella Gutheran of Shreveport, and two brothers, Joe and Sam Litefoot of Choudrant.

Daniel, 78, Of Arcadia Dies Friday

Vue Leo Daniel, 78, of Arcadia, died early Friday. Survived by four daughters, two sons, and several relatives. Funeral services were held Saturday at First Baptist Church of Arcadia with Dr. Claude Caldwell officiating. burial followed in Arcadia Cemetery.

Lewis & Co Opens Expanded Ruston Store Remodeling

Lewis & Co begins an extensive remodeling at its Ruston store, with work to finish early in April. The former Kidd & Lew hardware site on Mississippi Ave will house new departments, a terrazzo entrance, balcony offices, and enhanced lighting. Architect Milton Stallings oversees the project, expanding ground floor to 7,000 sq ft and balcony to 2,400 sq ft to improve shopping convenience for the local trade area.

Lisbon man dies in Shreveport heart attack

Edward C. Allen 63 of Lisbon died at a Shreveport hospital from a heart attack after a period of illness. Born in Union Parish he lived in Lisbon many years and was a member of Sharon Baptist Church. Funeral services were held at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church with two ministers officiating and burial in Mt. Nebo Cemetery. He is survived by his wife six daughters and four sons plus numerous relatives.

Funeral Rites For Mrs A C Wise Held Sunday

Funeral services for Mrs. A C Wise 92 of Kimbletown were Sunday at 3 pm at Sharon Baptist Church. The Rev. Shelton Beauchamp officiated with Rev. Joe Hinkie and Rev A L Now assisting. Funeral services for W. W. Ricks, 80, were held Thursday at Mineral Springs Church with the Rev. Arnold Norsworthy pastor. Lincoln Livestock Owners Plan Bangs Eradication

About twenty five livestock owners petition for compulsory bangs testing in the parish led by F O Levasseur county agent. Several parishes already enforce such a program.
