Quitting High School Costly Financially
A U S Department of Labor study on early work experience of 1952 to 1957 high school dropouts and graduates shows dropouts earn less and face higher unemployment. Among 4000 youths in seven communities, 15 percent of boy dropouts earned under 40 a week versus 2 percent of graduates. 31 percent of graduates earned 80 or more weekly, only 20 percent of dropouts. For girls, nearly 40 percent of dropouts earned under 40, while about 14 percent of graduates did.

A regional leadership conference on newer media of teaching is set for February at Louisiana Tech in Howard Auditorium. Ruston Chamber elects ten new directors for two year terms to replace outgoing members at the Diamond Inn meeting. New directors include James L. Benaird and D. C. DuBois, among others, with ongoing terms listed for current directors.
